Expectations
Parents: Make sure both you and your child are committed to the AAU program and their team. Practices/tournaments are mandatory and important to both the player and their teammates. Please get your child to practices and tournaments every time, and on time!
Parents need to be positive – to your child and your team. If you have questions or issues regarding your child, seek out the Coach in private. If you are still not satisfied, contact the Director of the organization, Bob Pipe.
Players: You need to be sure all your commitments (school work, volunteer programs, other extracurricular activities, etc) are completed so that you can play for the Mavericks! Practices are mandatory but school comes first. Finish your homework before practice! If you play other sports and conflicts exist discuss these with your coach. However, it is expected that Mavericks are your first "sport" priority.

Seasons
There are two seasons for AAU basketball, Fall and Spring. The Fall season starts right after Labor Day and generally ends the first week of November to not interfere with town travel team schedules. The Spring season begins in late February/early March with tryouts and then typically ends in the beginning of June. Of course, additional invitational, regional, and national tournaments may extend the Spring season.
Of the two seasons, Spring AAU requires the most commitment in terms of practice time and tournaments. Typically there are two practices per week and 4-6 tournaments. Fall AAU occurs at a slower pace with generally one practice per week and 2-3 tournaments.
Coaches can either increase or decrease the number of practices and tournaments entered at their discretion. This may impact player fees.
